Top reasons to have a small wedding
The wedding industry is constantly changing and so are trends. Gone are the days where the traditional large wedding is the only way to do things. Covid definitely played a part changing the status quo and now weddings come in all shapes and sizes. When it comes down to it, pleasing too many people can result in a day that isn’t your own. And who wants that?! However that’s not to say large weddings don’t have their place but having been in the industry for over ten years I am seeing more and more the rise of the small intimate elopement style wedding. Read on to find out my top reasons to have a small wedding.
You will have quality time with everyone!
Yes! No wondering the next morning who you didn’t manage to speak to. Smaller weddings of 50 people or less – we’re talking groups of under 10 too – means you will have ample time to talk to the most important people in your life. Smaller numbers work really well for those who find large groups of people daunting, even if you know them all. But often bringing together people from all walks of your life can be stressful. If this is you, then keep it small! Keep it to those who you know will blend together well and you won’t have to stress.
Less money
The obvious one and perhaps why most will end up opting for a small wedding. The cost of living is at an all time high, you want to get married but you don’t have the budget or desire to remortgage in order to feed 100 friends and family for the day. Getting married at your local town hall or a venue which doesn’t cost too much money followed by a meal or drinks at a favourite restaurant is a quids in way to tie the knot. Spending less on your day means more budget for a potential honeymoon!
Quicker to plan
Do you want to spend a year – and possibly more planning one day? You can arrange a small wedding or elopement in a fraction of the time. Again this lowers stress levels and means it doesn’t take over your life. The most stress I see in a lead up to a wedding is the planning. Often by the day couples are exhausted from it all. You can avoid all this!
