The Secret Garden Wedding Brighton
Tucked away in the hip west end of Kemp Town village lies a secret location not many people know about. The Secret Garden Wedding Brighton is a wedding venue which oozes charm, character, and sculptures from local artists. It combines all this to make a stunning city venue and one I was looking forward to photographing at again.
The back story
The garden originally belonged UK’s Prime Minister Robert Peel’s brother in 1830 who lived in the prestigious Sussex Square. Most of the houses there had a garden attached to it which you accessed through a tunnel. This is the only one remaining. The Secret Garden was purchased in 1950 by the Antony Dale family. It was cared for by Antony and his wife Yvonne. Rather than sell it for development, it was her wish that it should remain as a haven for the local community and for artistic purposes. It’s open to the public in the summer and is now run by Antony Dale Trust, a UK registered charity.
Ceremony and reception
It was a rainy day for Hannah and Joe but despite the outdoor nature of this venue there is also an undercover option right beside the gardens. They just about managed to have their reception drinks outside before heading to the local pub The Bell Tower just around the corner. Both these venues would suit you if you’re looking for a low key, laid back day with close friends and family. For more Secret Garden inspo head to this blog.
