Rustic countryside wedding in France
This wedding was a box ticker for me! A rustic countryside wedding in France was always going to be easy on the eye. But it wasn’t this alone that made this wedding perfect. If I was asked what’s my ideal wedding to shoot, I probably answer the following. A fun-filled day spent with a couple who totally love each other and aren’t afraid to show it. A couple who are relaxed and chilled and enjoying every minute of their day because they are having the wedding that they want. A couple who trust their photographer to capture all the details and emotions of the day. And finally a couple who’s friends and family are equally revelling in the fun, love and laughter of exactly how a wedding should be.

Erin and James couldn’t wait to have their rustic countryside wedding in France. The informality made for a wonderful day. After much research they booked an idyllic 500 year old farmhouse Mas de Barbut nestled in the Camargue region of southern France. Situated just outside Aigues Mortes, this place packs a punch when it comes to character and charm. Classically French, the vine covered walls, flowers, artefacts found in the natural grounds, ginger moggies, and stunning gardens added to this heavenly spot. At the heart of their day was their daughter Erin who was six months old. Fifty other close family and friends joined them. A beautiful ceremony within the grounds of the farmhouse was followed by a naming ceremony for Niamh. Then guests enjoyed drinks and canopies in the courtyard. The nearby beach and countryside provided a great backdrop for some shots before heading back for an alfresco dinner.
Relaxed wedding vibe
The guests dined by candlelight on freshly cooked giant prawns and grilled tuna. Erin bought candles, vases and lanterns in London and took them over to France for the wedding, and made table runners from natural hessian. They foraged for the table flowers in the nearby fields, collected wild berries, flowers and foliage, and had the typical French croquembouche topped with sparklers as the wedding cake. It’s fair to say the attention to detail on the dinner tables was exquisite! Beautifully rustic with hessian and beige colour schemes throughout. Erin and James did their first dance with little Niamh before old movies were played against a moonlit night sky. An inspiration for a destination French wedding if ever there was one!
