Rustic Devon barn wedding
Higher Eggbeer is the perfect setting for a rustic Devon barn wedding. This beautiful, eco-friendly venue has charm and individuality and is the perfect place to enjoy a celebration. With its chocolate-box perfect thatched house, outdoor pool, and room for guests, what’s not to love?! Every nook and cranny oozes charm and when you can hire out an entire venue it makes for the perfect weekend wedding getaway.

the setting
Higher Eggbeer is situated on the edge of Dartmoor and as a result enjoys far reaching views over the Devonshire countryside. There is total privacy and it’s a very relaxed venue. This means you can make it your own. No two weddings are the same here and you can let your imagination and artistic flair run away with you! You can get married inside and or outside and the large lawns provide ample space for entertainment. In the evenings the paths are lit with fairy lights and the fire pit gives yet another lovely feature.
emma and tom’s beautiful day
This lovely couple live in Brighton but Emma grew up in Devon so wanted to come back this way to tie the knot. And tie the knot they literally did with the ancient Celtic tradition of handfasting. Emma got ready in the beautiful thatched cottage with her closest friends and bridesmaids. The atmosphere was relaxed and Emma was the absolute definition of a chilled bride! As it was October the couple chose to get married in the indoor barn. With a log burner, fairy lights and stunning rustic decorations it was a lovely setting to get married.

handfasting ceremony
Tom and Emma chose a family friend to lead the ceremony. This incorporated the handfasting ceremony which added a wonderful Celtic and personal vibe especially as the parents were involved in handing over the ‘ropes’! A celebrant led ceremony is always so personal. And when your celebrant knows the couple it makes it even more special and personal. Black and white imagery really suited this wedding for the timeless natural storytelling look.

reception drinks
Instead of confetti Tom and Emma walked out to bubbles and the rain just about held off for some drinks and photos outside. It was then into the bar for some drinks before the ceremony room was transformed into a stunning dining area for the evening.
