Reasons why I should be your wedding photographer

Choosing the right photographer has to be one of the most important decisions you will make for your day. If you’ve started your research you will soon begin to realise it’s not just about the photos, but also about the person behind the camera. The person who you will be around you all day. Even the most subtle, unobtrusive of photographers will bring an energy to the day so it’s vital you feel comfortable. Read on to see if I might be the right person for you.

I want someone who makes me feel at ease

One of the things that comes up time and again when speaking to clients is their worry about looking awkward on camera or feeling uncomfortable having their photo taken. I get it, it’s why I am behind the camera! There are a few of us who totally embrace the camera but for the majority it’s not natural. I feel I have the kind of personality that can really help with this. It’s massively important for me for you to feel comfortable. As part of your client journey I will make sure we get to know each other a bit. A pre wedding shoot is a great way to build a rapport, plus you experience what it’s like to have your photo taken. It’s not rushed and I can show you immediately what I am taking behind the camera.

As is human nature, the more we find things in common or can relate to, the more at ease we will feel. I’ve asked friends to describe me in the past and words that come up are: calm, friendly, natural, smiley, fun and adventurous. And as far as my interest go, if you love travel, food, the outdoors, sports, yoga and film we will have plenty to talk about! But the real proof is past reviews and the ones below are testimony to all that I’m trying to say (it’s hard to talk about yourself!)

“Pippa was always patient, discreet and approachable.”

“Pippa isn’t just the best photographer but the loveliest person to have around on your wedding day.”

“We would recommend Pippa to anyone who is looking for a talented, professional photographer who has the ability to put even the most camera shy at ease.”

“Pippa makes you feel so at ease and is so unbelievably lovely.”

I don’t want tonnes of posed photos

This is down to personal choice and for some couples having more editorial, styled photos is a vibe they’re looking for. It’s not that I never do the more set-up type shots – often there are two short couple portraits shoots because we might be blessed with a golden hour. However even during those moments I am quick, efficient and we are often chatting at the same time. The same applies with the group shots. I question if couples don’t want them at all as there are potential family members you won’t otherwise be in any photos with. But again it doesn’t have to be all stiff and traditional. Much like the couple portraits I like to make it relaxed, unforced and full of smiles. The rest of the time I won’t be directing at all but I am naturally a documentary style photographer. The idea that you have to be aware and posing for the camera all day just isn’t how I work.

“When we first met Pippa we instantly relaxed and enjoyed ourselves in her company.”

Pippa Heath is an amazing, talented, good-humoured, polite, beautiful photographer. She remained professional throughout the day but also joined in with jokes and made me laugh often.

“The moment we met Pippa we were impressed by her professional manner, quiet confidence and her fun, friendly approach.”

I want fun story telling images

This really sums up what I do! Other commonly used words are documentary style, relaxed, unposed and natural. I want you to look back on your day, through the photos, and feel like you are watching a story unfold. This is how I approach the day. From the beginning when you’re getting ready with your closest friends and family right through to the evening dancing. For me it’s about capturing moments, moments between you and your partner and all your guests. The things that you won’t see on the day that will make you laugh, smile and give you goose bumps afterwards. That’s my mission.

“Pippa thank you for capturing all the emotions on our day so unobtrusively. Your tenacity, calmness and soft manner, won everyone over.”

“Pippa came across as a warm and down-to-earth person. Her photography is like her personality – very natural and not pretentious at all.”

“From the minute we met Pippa we knew she was exactly what we were looking for. Her natural approach, her warm personality, her willingness to go the extra mile and, of course, her amazing talent as a photographer.”
