Confetti throwing top tips

It might all seem very obvious to you – walk away from your ceremony and have your guests throw confetti at you. Done. But there are ways to make it run smoothly to ensure you get some great photos at the end of it. It’s one of my favourite moments during the day as the often nerve wracking ceremony is over and it’s essentially the start of party time! Read on to learn about my confetti throwing top tips.

Biodegradable confetti a must

This is probably a stipulation of any venue now but it goes without saying that it’s a must. And in line with that, check with the venue they are ok having confetti thrown. Nearly all will be but there just might be some areas they would prefer you to throw it. Avoid any stress on the day in knowing what’s what!

Throw up – not in your face!

So you have your baskets and bagfuls of confetti but it needs to all be distributed, and quickly! Whoever you have handing out the confetti make sure they know to say to throw up and not in your face. I will also be telling guests this vital tip.

You can never have enough!

It really is far far better to have people with two handfuls of confetti to throw. It makes for absolutely amazing photos and just feels more of a spectacle for you and your guests. There’s nothing worse than a couple walking through a confetti line while looking up sort of wondering where it all is…

Look up and smile

It is so easy to keep your mouth tightly closed and worse still eyes, head down while walking through the shower of confetti. But trust me it won’t look great on camera and you will miss the moment! So as hard as it might feel when people throw the confetti, keep your head up, walk slowly and smile.

And if you really want to savour the moment, stop for a kiss mid walk and you’re the guaranteed a lovely shot.

Confetti cannons

As far as trends go this is one of my more favourite ones. Confetti cannons are fun and set off at the right time (just after the first dance) is a brilliant way to get your guests involved and hyped up ready to join the dance floor!

Bubbles

If confetti is an absolute no-go then another option is bubbles. A lovely touch and one which leaves no mess on the ground. Win-win!

There are many confetti companies out there but my favourite has to be Flutter Darlings! I mean the name wins the award right?! To read more useful posts head to my weddings tips & advice page on my blog.
