Beach wedding in Sussex

A family affair

Sarah and Phil had the most wonderful, relaxed day for their beach wedding in Sussex. You could almost have been in the California despite the slightly cooler temps! The brief was clear… a small intimate wedding on the Sussex coast with their closest family and friends. Sarah and Phil met in a running club and I lost track of hearing how many marathons they had run between them. It was clearly a match made in heaven and they found an absolute gem of a place in West Sussex.

Middleton-on-Sea

The breathtaking Elmer Beach, also known as Elmer Sands Beach, or Middleton-on-Sea Beach is a hidden gem, discreetly located along the stunning West Sussex coastline. This relatively unknown beach is nestled in between Felpham Beach and Climping Beach. And it was here that Sarah and Phil found a property to rent for their celebration. The backdrop was stunning, and the house was a perfect and stylish place to have a small gathering. They kicked off the celebrations with each guest choosing a pebble from the beach which they then painted. They were later thrown into the sea in a symbolic gesture.

Ceremony

Sarah and Phil made sure there was laughter and light-heartedness throughout their vows. Their celebrant delivered such a bespoke and personal ceremony. They also involved their respective parents with the hand fasting ritual. Walking straight down onto the beach for confetti and paper string celebrations was the perfect way to end the ‘official’ part of the day.

Reception

Caterers were booked and a wonderful BBQ was enjoyed by all the guests before a surprise magician arrived. It’s always a great idea to add some entertainment to your day! With garden games and a moon to dance their first dance to, it wrapped up a beautiful day and one I was honoured to be a part of.
